Wondering why Millennials and Gen Z are turning towards e-learning? If so, you are in the right place. Read the article to learn the basic reasons for this significant shift.

Traditional education tracks have been the most common way to further your career for decades, but recently online learning has begun to compete in that space.
Common career advice to young adults graduating high school is to get a degree, because you can only go so far without one. However, there are exceptions to every rule. With so many millennials carving their own path lately, it’s misleading to say a degree is necessary for success.

One way that millennials are finding success is by expanding their skill set via online learning. I don’t mean Youtube, though that can be a starting point to learn the basics of plenty of topics.

IT'S COST EFFICIENT

There is no doubt that online learning or e-learning is cost-efficient compared to other methods of learning. When it comes to classroom learning, institutions need to equip the instructors to deliver a particular concept.

The cost of the instructor’s salary and the equipment make the program expensive. Plus, the quality of equipment and the level of proficiency of the lecturer are also the main factors that determine the expense of the learning program.

On the contrary, if you take account of the online learning technology, equipment, and methods, they are pretty cheap and accessible. Not only do you need to pay lower fees for the online courses, but you can also save money on a commute and several other things.

FREEDOM TO STUDY ANY TIME, ANY WHERE

Online study allows us to choose exactly where we study, and when. This can be in a quiet, comfy room at home, or in a social setting with friends, in a cafe. In fact, science proves you should be studying at coffee shops instead of the library.

Research shows that coffee shop ambiance increases creativity, alertness, and ability to learn. A study from the University of Illinois found that individuals came up with more creative product ideas when exposed to ambient sound at around 70 decibels – the average volume of a bustling coffee shop. Research shows that a semi-distracting background helps you think more broadly and outside-the-box. Rumor has it the selfie stick was even invented in a Starbucks.

IT'S A PROGRESSIVE TRACK

Another reason why Gen Z and Millennials are opting for e-learning is that it is a progressive track. Well, it’s true that both electronic and traditional learning routes are progressive. However, in the conventional learning method, instructors have to assess each student manually. Therefore, they need more time to evaluate students.

Besides that, there is only one mentor to assess the total number of students in a class. Tracking each individual and maintaining their record is challenging. As a result, the students find it difficult to understand their flaws and weaknesses in the academic sector.

In electronic learning, one can evaluate their students through software. On top of that, students can also track their progress through different tools and maintained records. In other words, you don’t need to waste time on understanding what you are doing wrong and can entirely focus and work on your weaknesses.

SIDE HUSTLES

According to researches, most Millennials and Gen Z have a side hustle to do for several reasons. One of the most common ones is that both Millennials and Gen Z get opportunities to learn things from online platforms to excel in something demanding.

It is important to note that they can dig deeper into any topic through different programs in their desired time. This is an impressive feature that has grasped the attention of these individuals. The best part is that this side hustle can help you earn a significant amount of money, depending on your expertise and skills.

EASE OF USING TECHNOLOGY

As we all know, experts invented the first computer in the mid-1940s. But computers reached the layman in the mid-1990s. This is the childhood era of both Millennials and Gen Z. Since both groups have seen technology at a very early age, they have a great interest in technology, and overall find it easier to use to their advantage.

It will not be wrong to say that these individuals are more comfortable in using the tech than any other learning method. They prefer to dig deeper into the digital content instead of listing to hours or turning pages of the book. Completely shifting the source of their education to e-learning can help them learn faster and take more interest in their studies.

E-learning is relatively a new trend but getting incredibly popular among Gen Z and Millennials due to its user-friendly properties.

If you want to become an expert in a certain field, but don’t have time to physically go to institutions or training centres, e-learning is definitely the way to go.
